PUBS/BARS

So, in for some night life? Here's a list of places we enjoy thoroughly!

1. Dock's Riverfront - Dance the night away! Any downtown pub crawl definitely deserves to have this one on it's list. Docks is not only a restaurant, but has great live entertainment.
2. Rockstar Bar - Located in the historic Algonquin Hotel downtown, Rockstar has a large outdoor patio, which is good because inside is not so big. That's the only downside but it has great atmosphere and live entertainment.
3. LopLops - Ah but the only place that knows how to serve Guinness properly and also has live entertainment and the best selection of draft beer. It's downtown and across from Top Hat Billiards
4. Top Hat Billiards/Smokey's Patio - Want a game of pool? Check this place out as the premier pool hall in town or enjoy the largest patio bar in the summer time.
5. The "Canadian" - Located uptown on Great Northern Road at the Knight's Inn, every Thursday night is College night and always has great entertainment downstairs. Need to escape the noisy crowds? Head upstairs for the Upper Deck Lounge and share a pitcher in front of their huge LCD's for the game.
6. The Pub - Located in Algoma's Water Tower Inn, The Pub is a lively place on the weekends and surely convenient if you're staying in the hotel.
7. Wacky Wings Wings, wings and more wings with over 100 different flavours and combinations you can imagine. If you're a wing person, this is definitely a must visit; if not, order something fun from their menu. With two locations - one on Great Northern Road next to the Robinson's Car lot and on Lake St, close to the corner at Trunk Road - this restaurant and pub features large screen tv's so you can eat your wings and watch the game in every direction. It's also kid friendly :)

Aren't into large crowds? Well, we have a solution for that as well. If you're downtown, try:

1. Bottom's Up Lounge - Nicely located above Vincenzo's Restaurant, it's a quaint pub. There isn't an elevator so if you're someone who needs one, this is not the pub for you.
2. Joey's Twisted Italian Grill & Pub - Located in the Station Mall, enjoy a quiet drink in their pub.
3. Reggie's Tavern - A little rough around the edges but a popular watering hole for anyone who is 50+. Reggie's also has a great menu and live Country music on the weekends.
4. Coch's Corner - Kitty-corner to the Essar Centre, Coch's has a small feel pub and conveniently close to Essar if you're catching a game and in between periods.

If you're willing to travel around:

1. The George Wellington Esquire Club, a.k.a, The Esquire - Located on Second Line West, this cosy and very popular bar with 35+ crowd has pool leagues, darts, cards and live entertainment on the weekends. They also have a large bocce court and patio.
2. Bossy's - Located on Great Northern Road, Boss (formerly Smack Daddy's) has a nice outdoor patio, billiards and delicious wings!
3. Hard Times Bar - On Wallace Terrace close to Goulais Avenue, this bar is a bit small but cute if you're in the area.
4. Madison's - Located in the Pine Plaza off Pine St. North, you can get quite cosy in this UK pub.

There are other places if you're adventurous, and there is a Gentleman's Club in town; however, I do not promote these types of night life so you'll have to ask around.

If you're really adventurous, try catching the shuttle from Top Hat Billiards on the weekends for a tour of the U.S. side. There are many little bars across the "ditch" (as we locals say) and are worthy of exploration. Not to mention, it's really cheap booze over there, so be
careful!
